There
is a love of detail that shows up not only in the food,
but in the artwork and creative ambiance of The Pearl, which
offers casual fine dining in this serene rural setting.
The constant evolution of the menu draws it’s inspiration
from the many farmers and fishers who supply the restaurant
with local Island produce.
Maxine
Delaney has owned and operated The Pearl since its inception
in 2007. Her passion for the restaurant industry was developed
through her involvement in opening and operating restaurants
in PEI, Halifax and Vancouver. A background in the film
industry as well as fashion design, show up in the ever
changing décor and ambient energy of the room.
Maxine did much of the renovation
on The Pearl herself, with friends offering helping hands.
The slate tiles on the countertops and floor of the bay window
were salvaged from the roof of a Cardigan Estate formerly
owned by Dr. Alexander Best, whose father Charles is of insulin
fame. The beautiful wide wood moldings around the bay window
came from Westwood, a Charlottetown Estate demolished in 1980.
Everything in the room has a story.
We believe that sipping
a glass of wine and sharing a meal that is fresh, creative
and visual, in a beautiful, ambient setting, is simply
the way it should be.
